Expensive gas means new products: Balanzza's hand scale

Here's an example of rising fuel prices trickling into the world of product design. Back when petrol was cheap, no one had any need of the Balanzza Digital Travel Scale; but now that cost-cutting airlines are charging passengers for every pound of extra luggage weight, Balanzza's hand scale looks a lot more relevant.
Hook it to your luggage handle, hoist the bag up, take a reading. It probably won't be enough to convince the surly airline counterperson, since they have their own scales, but at least you'll know before leaving the hotel whether you're going to get shafted.
