Fernando Prado is the head designer for São Paulo lighting manufacture Lumini where he specializes in decorative and technical lighting. With a background in Industrial Design, he is no stranger to industry recognition and took out a Bronze, Silver & Gold award for 3 of his lamps at this years IDEA/Brasil Award.

The one defining characteristic of Fernando's work is his use of 'surprise', rather than opting for expensive technical solutions, he employs simple mechanical elements that invite the user to interact with the lamp object itself to change the mood. The 'Super Bossa' pendant lamp featured in the video above is weighted in the center allowing the external shade to slide up and down adjusting the lights intensity.

Lumini's factory is located nearby employing 250 workers, a proximity Fernando and his design team of 6 are acutely aware of when specing for tooling and production.

The range is currently available in Brazil, Europe and hopefully in the States soon.
