As life becomes increasing digitized, new log-in details seem to be generated for pretty much everything you do, keeping track of it all is a nightmare and protection even harder as Identity theft crimes increase.

Some people have a universal password for everything which seems simple until you create an account somewhere using your email address as the username, effectively giving the site access to your email and therefor the ability to lock you out and discover your other accounts. An even bigger risk is having your laptop stolen with cached pages, bookmarked sites and potentially a file kept somewhere listing out all your account details.

To address this, Black Box Innovations have created the Tâke Personal Pocket Safe which organizes and secures vital personal records in a device that looks like a simple flash drive.

The unit secures its data in a number of ways. It uses a military grade 256-bit AES encryption system and content is automatically destroyed when it detects forced access to the memory chip. It also has a datalock PIN-pad that is programmable between three and ten digits and locks out intruders after three incorrect PIN attempts.

The 1GB drive also stores documents, photos and video leaving no trace of history on the computer when ejected. Seems like a good idea, it still doesn't address needing a back-up copy if you lose it but it would be great for travelers who don't plan on taking a laptop. Oh, and It comes in purple for teens who need to keep important stuff hidden from their parents.
